Stop the Growth
One of the simplest ways to stop a fungus from eating your grass is to prevent its growth in the first place. When your lawn is healthy, it will resist the detrimental effects of disease and infections, much like how your body is better at resisting sickness when you take the proper care of it.
Feed Your Lawn
Without enough nutrients, your grass will be weak. This means that they won’t grow as quickly as you know they can, and what does develop will be sickly and unsightly. The solution to this problem is simple: feed your lawn. Pick four times a year when you give your grass the food it needs. Everything living needs nourishment to thrive, including your yard! Get all the information you can about what you should feed your lawn, and how often you should do it, so that you make sure your landscape doesn’t overeat.
Watch the Water
Water is life. As simple as that sounds, there’s no getting around it. Even so, be careful how much water you give to your grass. The fungus that you are struggling against loves wet weather. Although you want to avoid letting your lawn suffer from sunscald, giving it too much water isn’t the answer. Try to water during the hours between 6 am and 10 am for best results. If you water the lawn later in the day, it won’t have as much time to dry, allowing the fungus to take over.
Keep On Mowing
Now that warm weather is here, you’re probably dreading the weekend lawn care routine. This often involves mowing the lawn. At the same time, mowing your lawn can help keep it alive. This is because it will become more resilient against fungal attacks. Don’t make your grass too short, as this could have awful consequences. Bermuda grass and Zoysia grass have different needs in terms of height, so make sure that you’re not overdoing it.
